A girl in the Middle East was jailed because SHE was raped, and the conditions for her release are abhorrent. A 5 year old boy is going to be tried for sexual misconduct for playing Doctor with a 6 year old girl. And, to wrap things up, apparently, atheists are as reviled as rapists.

First, a word of warning, Frank was awake for almost 48 hours before we recorded this show, so he is not at the top of his game. Being the trooper that he is, he really tried to make the show as good as usual. He did a great job, but, as you'll hear as time goes on, he starts to fade.

We discuss a few things, nonsense and movies and the like, then we movie onto some audio clips. Miss America candidates answer if they think that evolution should be taught in school, is women's tennis suffering from the grunting, and other weird stuff.

Frank picks out an article from the many I have bookmarked and we talk about what is and isn't in the Bible. At this point, Frank is ready to pass out, so we move on to feedback and call it a show.

This week, we have a retraction. (Some U.S. history was discussed last week and it was incorrect.) We talk about what little new T.V. there was and we have a discussion about the reception that "Sucker Punch" has received. Since we switched hosting services to podbean, we talk a little about what that means for you, our listeners as well as the show.

Chris talks about the absurdity of believing in just one supernatural being, but not others and Frank takes the opposite side. Some confusing stories from the Bible are discussed, like if God created the universe and all of reality just by saying so, why does he need mud or a rib to make people? The comfort and relative safety that religion brings versus truly living your life and experiencing everything you can is also touched on.

We have some listener submitted stories that are always good for a laugh (or a head shake) and we stall long enough to get some "propaganda" feedback from Reverend Scott. In rebuttal to last week's campaign message from Scott, we have a very special rebuttal from some up and coming political commentators.

This week, we had to, due to necessity, split the show into two parts. This OF COURSE gave us the option to talk even longer than usual. After the second break, we switch out co-hosts! Anything to keep you guys on your toes! Also, the audio quality was sacrificed a tiny bit so you wouldn't have such a huge file to download.

We start off talking about the movie "Mystery Team," starring Donald Glover and a who's who of sit-com cameos. From there we go on to talk about a bunch of the regular entertainment topics that we normally do.

After that, we start in on some listener submitted stories. As always, it's infuriating and sad, with a little bit of funny. Sadly, not as much sandwich related violence this week. After the break we come back and go over some more news stories, most notably, how Michelle Bachmann thinks that everyone should home school their kids. Dumb, or just totally out of touch? We explore all angles.

There is a lot more as well as listener feedback. I decided to wait on playing one audio clip that was sent to us. We didn't get to it in the first half and I really want Frank's reaction to it.

This week, we start off with just Chris updating you on the news that does and doesn't matter. The reason that Chris is all alone is, Frank's wife delivered the baby! Listen to the show for all the details. We talk about Rush Limbaugh and the fact that he doesn't know not to insultingly imitate spoken Chinese. We recall the tragedy of the Space Shuttle Challenger explosion of 1986. Do you remember anyone else on that flight besides Christa McAuliffe? Didn't think so. We take a few minutes and tell you who else was on the doomed shuttle. From there, we have a few more stories then we take our first break.

After the break, we are joined by my wife, Ellen and we talk first about a subject our friend Jorge was discussing. What would improve students performance in school? Gender segregation and uniforms were two of his ideas, and we throw a few more suggestions into the mix.

Next, we re-cap some of the most recent things that we watched, running the gamut from "The Backyardigans," to "Primeval." We discuss the turn 30 Rock had taken toward the absurd as well as the direction Parks and Recreation and Community are going. Somehow, Chris manages to compare religion to Taco Bell, and Ellen almost spills where she works. All in all, it was a fun show to record.

Our last segment focuses on listener feedback and a challenge has been extended to the Are You Serious? Podcast. Will they take up the challenge? Tune in next week and see.

This week, we start episode 126 discussing some shows and movies that we have watched. We talk about how "V" has actually become better, while still being slightly above mediocre. Perhaps they learned a lesson from the failure of "Caprica." Frank discusses a bit about Caddyshack, and we talk a little about Modern Family. Also, Chris has a new sonic screwdriver, and he doesn't put it down the entire show.

Since we were hit with another snowstorm, in fact it's what some people called a "snowbomb," Frank discusses exactly why he hates the winter and what he would like to do to remedy the situation.
In our second segment, we get into what a lot of you are expecting we get to; the Arizona shooting. There are a lot of things said, some out of anger, some speculative, some good natured calling out, and some devil's advocate. Gun regulation, responses, blame placing and national discourse are all discussed.

Of course, we aren't going to leave you all angry without a way to vent. We end the show with some nonsense and weirdness from the net and our voice mail. The crowning achievement is an entry in our "radio series." With a guest writer, star and foley artist, we humbly present "Scenes the way they should have happened!"

This week, we talk about a few movies that we saw. Tron Legacy, Yogi Bear and The Other Guys to name a few. We don't linger on that too much, because we then move on to listener submitted news stories.

From Palin clubbing a dog (is that a real story?) to Michael Steele citing Tolstoy but quoting Dickens, out loyal fans dredge up some of the dumbest things that happened recently and present them to us for dissection. We then take a couple of turns on Mental Floss' Amazing Fact Generator. It should be fun.

Tucked in the middle of all this is a funny re-scripting of the conversation that Luke, Han and Ben had upon their exit from hyperspace headed toward Alderaan. We make this sort of like a live radio play, complete with music and sound effects. We hop you enjoy it!

And, what show would be complete without Reverand Scott's voice mail? Well... we shall see. We recorded early and I'm not going to say if he got it to us in time.

This episode marks the last show we will put out in 2010. We mark this year-end milestone by... doing the exact same thing we do every week. Talk about some recently seen things; Black Swan, 8: A Mormon Proposition, Nightmares in Red, White and Blue, Police Academy 2 through 5 and some more random stuff.

From there, we move into news stories. Pedophile priests, Sarah Palin, word of the year, 50 proof God does not exist and Saturday hate mail from the Daily Kos all work their way into the conversation.
We talk a bit about winter weather, overprotective parents and restrooms, closing during snow emergencies, how poorly Cambridge cleared their sidewalks (today, they were fine, but yesterday...) and pretty much any random thought that popped into our heads. Like, iPhones, and what Chris really hates about Star Wars.

Episode One Hundred Twenty: "The temporal displacement occurred exactly 1:20am and zero seconds!"

This week, we were going to do a shorter show, because we didn't think that there was that much to talk about. Boy, were we wrong. We start by talking about Christmas and gift giving. From there, we move into what we've recently seen. Modern Family, Despicable Me, and a bunch of other things are discussed.

Next, we talk about some passages from "The Atheist Bible." The title is a misnomer, as it contains the New Testament with a copious amount of bull si*t from Ray "Way of the Master" Comfort. We specifically address his chapter, "The Ten Most Common Mistakes Atheists Make." From there, we move on to a whole bunch of quick hit news stories. Muslims want to execute a Christina woman, Bo Burmham sings a wonderfully dense and elaborate song, Fox cites The Onion as a credible source and many other crazy stories.

The most important segment of the show is reserved for some audio from a great man that we lost this week. Irvin Kershner, director of "The Empire Strikes Back," died at the age of 87. He once said, "I think it went beyond 'Star Wars'. You had some humor, you got to know the characters a little better. I saw it as the second movement in an opera. That's why I wanted some of the things slower. And it ends in a way that you can't wait to see or to hear the vivace, the allegretto. I didn't have a climax at the end. I had an emotional climax."

In this episode, we start off talking about the convention that Chris worked last weekend for Outside the Cinema, Rock and Shock. Many celebrities were met, including George Romero and Judah Freelander.

From there, we move into what is usually our first segment. We talk about Glee, 30 Rock, Community, Outsourced, Big Bang and all the other usual shows. We talk about what we think will be the catalyst for Steve Carell's character to leave the show. After all, doesn't the guy deserve a good break finally?

After that, we move into some of the more ridiculous people that are running for office this year. People like Carl Paladino and Christine O'Donnell. These are people that will outlaw abortion, even in the case of rape or incest, remove amendments from the Constitution, and know nothing about how what they say will affect people in the long run. Be afraid, be very afraid and don't vote for them.

We have what is most likely the best voice mail ever and then we end the show.

In this episode we discuss 30 Rock, The Office and Outsourced. Frank saw "The Town," and we discuss local landmarks as well as how the film actually was. Then, through some weird alignment of the stars, Glee, Modern Family and Community shared some common themes that relate to topics we often cover on the show. It was really weird, three shows on three different networks in the same week touch on the same topic.

Then, we discuss Carl Paladino. On "National Coming Out Day," Carl Paladino decides to comment on his opponent's decision to march in a gay pride parade. Then he goes on to say even more disgusting things about the community. We listen to a bit of Keith Olbermann and his description of the events, complete with audio of Paladino saying the hateful comments.

Since last week's hate mail was so funny, we decided to check out the Daily Kos best of last year's hate mail. It's not as funny as some of the other ones, but still the hate is pretty palpable. We finish up with listener feedback and that's the show!

This episode is one for the books. On a whim, I thought it would be funny to read some of the hate mail that the Daily Kos posted the other day. Well, that turned into one of the best segments we have had in a long time. Be warned, there is a lot of hate speech in this segment, but none of it came from the hosts. They are reading actual letters from real people.

But first, we talk about what we've watched lately. Modern Family, 30 Rock, Glee, et al, get quick mentions in a segment that is still pretty long. Frank talks about "The Social Network," and Chris talks a little about the "Last Airbender" flick from Shamalan.

From there, we pull up some news stories and discuss those for a bit. Then we move into the hate mail for the Daily Kos.

There's not much else to say, except, it's foul, hateful mean spirited, There’s one part Chris wouldn't read and words never used on the show are said. Multiple times.

In this week's episode, due to popular demand, we return to the norm. Entertainment, religion and politics.

In the first segment, we discuss a few new shows, including Raising Hope and Blue Bloods. Then we recap the season premiers for The Big Bang Theory, Glee, 30 Rock, The Office, Community,Modern Family and Outsourced. We try to keep it short, but there was a lot to cover.

Next, we move back into familiar territory. You see, not that long ago, Joseph Ratzinger (Pope Benedict XVI) decided that he should visit the U.K. There was a huge outcry from the populace and many declared he should not visit at all. We discuss some of the issues that people have with the current leader of the religion. Then we get into some of the things he said during the visit and we discuss an experts rebuttal.

After that, we talk about the differences in the political parties and offer up some possible ways to improve how the government operates and how it doesn't.

Also, we discuss some of the new television series set to debut this year. We reveal our choices for a new series to try out. We picked something that we thought the other might not normally try. Then we get into listener feedback and we talk about the direction of the show and how we could possibly open it up for a wider audience.

This week, we wrap up the third season of True Blood with a spoiler filled review of the season finale. Bill betrays everyone, Jason get more than he bargained for, the Queen of Louisiana returns, Russell is dealt with, a hit is put out on Pam, Sam and Tommy finally come to blows, Jesus reveals his secret to Lafayette, Arlene avoids everyone while Terry is happier than he's ever been, Sookie tells everyone to leave her alone, Tara cuts her hair and leaves town and Eric wants his phone back.

Next, we move on to politics. What would it mean if the Bush tax cuts were kept in place for the richest 2% of people? How much of a budget shortfall would that cause, and how does John Boehner feel about it? From there we move on to a local hate-radio host and two of the lies he told in just 20 minutes of airtime. One is easily disputed and the second took a 45 second Google search to prove him wrong.

After that, we talk a little bit about geocentrists. Those are people that still believe that the Sun revolves around the Earth. That's right, there are still people out there that think the Earth is the center of the universe. From there, we talk a little bit about how no Church in Belgium is free of child abuse allegations, and from there we discuss Irish Science Minister Lenihan and how his position on the importance of science can change while calling evolution a hoax. After that we talk a little about September 11th and some of the things that went through Chris' mind on that day regarding religion, the lives lost, and the usefulness of religion versus the harm it causes.

After that, we have feedback; we have one older voice mail that leads into another very well. Just when we thought we were done talking about our old place of employment, something else of colossal stupidity has to happen, and we will tell you about it! After that, Chris and Frank come to an agreement and that's a show!

This week, with no new television, we talk a bit about movies. Machete makes it's first appearance in the first segment and the conversation is pretty free flowing, from entertainment to our personal lives and back again.

In the next segments, we listen to some audio that was suggested to us, of course, it's Star Wars related. We click through a few other links, most notably why burning Quran's on 9/11 is a bad idea, not only for the people doing it, but also for our troops stationed in the Middle East.

After that, we explore our forum on palavr.com. We check out some of the links posted on our video forum and are surprised with the conspiracy theories one person has about the people behind Machete.

All in all, it's a pretty schizophrenic episode. With not too much happening in the last week, we make due with what we have.

Episode One Hundred and Seven: "I go up to seventh floor to find my sister; just let me pass. The people of 107 will do what you wish now."

In this episode, we start with a discussion of how Frank's face came to look like a bear hit him. Chris talks about some slight annoyances that occurred in rapid succession, from a car accident to an unrelated (twice flat tire) to hate radio and back. Frank has a really special announcement and then we get to the regular show!

We get into a lengthy discussion of True Blood and try to predict where the series is going to end this season and where it will go in the future. We quickly review the Emmy winners from earlier in the week, offering comment as we go. Apparently, there is a re-make of "Arthur" in the works and we talk about some good news for Ghostbusters 3 (finally.)

Then we move on to real world topics. Starting with what is being reported as actual proof of clergy covering up the abuse of boys in a parish, we then move to the Moron on the Mall, Glenn Beck. He held his "Restore Honor" rally Sunday on the 47th anniversary of Dr. King's amazing "I have a dream" speech. He held his rally on the same day in practically the same place. We delve into this topic and discuss Michelle Bachmann's estimate of the crowd size, the actual crowd size, Beck's (reportedly) wearing of a bullet-proof vest and Alveda King's further disgrace as a cousin of MLK.

Following that aneurysm inducing subject, we temp fate by going even deeper and listen to some interviews conducted by "New Left Media," as they interview some of the people that turned out for the rally. Have you heard FOX talking points? Do you want to hear them regurgitated in a less articulate manner? Do you then want to hear Chris and Frank yell at these people and prove them dead wrong? Then you're in luck! That's just what we do!

Follow that up with a temperamental voice mail service, (what do you expect? It's free!) and that's pretty much the whole show. Stick around after the outro to hear how the GOP seem to hate logic, reason, science and facts.

Chris attempts to talk about Eureka, but the storyline is so complicated, he has a hard time finding a starting point. The epilogue from the Lost box set is discussed and Frank talks about G.I. Joe.

Episode One Hundred and Five: "105 years old, he hung in there, didn't he?"

In this week's episode, we spoil the hell out of the latest episode of True Blood. Everything that has happened with the King of Mississippi has led to the last five minutes of this episode. That isn't all that happened, Tara, Sam, Sookie, Eric, Bill, Jason, Nan and Arlene all have very important moments this week. Remember, there are MASSIVE spoilers in this episode, so beware. After that, we discuss The A-Team briefly and some other shows and movies that we managed to fit in during the week.

Russell Edgington - The Vampire King of Mississippi

From there, we move on to some current events. For instance, we discuss the ending of combat operations in Iraq. After 2708 days at war and 2666 days since the now ex-President George Bush declared "Mission Accomplished," we have moved all combat troops out of the country into Kuwait. This will leave 50,000 troops for support and training. We then move to the 15 dumbest things Sarah Palin has said. This is an exercise in restraint trust me. We briefly discuss the Islamic community center and how the area is not even close to "hallowed ground."

Remember this? It took a completely different group of people to do what that sign says.

We have two small musical interludes this week, the first is to enhance the story of how the Boba Fett that Erica and Mike sent was so delicately packed for shipping. The second musical break concerns a very famous sci-fi author and his crush. Then, we turn to feedback. Splitting the segment between e and voice mail, we have some interesting conversations about Clone Wars, the Nightsisters and Savage Oppress. Another e-mail asks us about whom we would consider a sell out in the entertainment business. What we have to say might surprise you.

This week, we start off with a musical interlude. Then we explain why we played that particular music and why all (ex)popsyndicate shows are now ex-popsyndicate shows. Something different than the old forums will be coming. Something big. Something good. We're excited to see what the future holds.

Not much time has passed between our recording sessions, so we mostly talk about the newest episode of True Blood. There is a little talk of some other shows and movies, but not too much.

Next up, we discuss the person that confronted Sarah Palin with a sign reading "Worst Governor Ever" while she was filming her reality show for The Learning Channel. That's right, The Learning Channel. Then we go over a list of actual absentee excuse notes from a Memphis School. It's as funny as you would think. Chris talks a bit about the assumption that Catholics are superior in morality to atheists. Chris suggests that because Christians are good to avoid punishment, their moral purity may not be the most pure. We explore a few more topics and then take a break.

We finish the show with a super awesome voice mail from Erica and Mike and then Chris' convictions are called into question in regard to his stance on the proposed Ground Zero Community Center / Mosque. Hopefully, after a bit of explanation, Chris' stance is now clearly defined. Oddly (for our show) we delve into a bit of video game talk after we finish voice mail. I know, weird!

This week, in the entertainment world, we talk about The A-Team, W., the difference between Oliver Stone and Oliver North and Mad Men. We do not talk about last week's episode of True Blood seven though we open with a clip. Chris started watching Friefly and he talks a bit about that as well as Eureka that has started a new season. Futurama has now produced Chris' favorite episode EVER. There is also a little talk about a Japanese film called Robo Geisha. It is as weird as you think it is. Frank watched Hot Shots and we talk a bit about satire in movies.

After the first break, we talk a bit about or best and worst jobs. Frank has a real interesting story about wrong place, wrong business and Chris talks about monotony and drinking on the job. For bests, we each give our own examples of why the job was the best we had. Of course present jobs are excluded.

Following the second break, we talk about our special appearance on The PodcastPodcast. Then, we delve into the crazy news of the week. We start off with a story about how Bill Murray is one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. Next, we talk about the anger over Essence magazine hiring a WHITE fashion director. Next up, we have a clip of Representative Anthony Weiner and the passion he brings to he House. Then, we look into the right's fabricated outrage over the cost of Chelsea Clinton's wedding and one article talking about how disappointed one woman's group is that she is marrying a *gasp* JEW! We also talk a bit about one of the best marriage proposals EVER!

Following the last break, we get into our feedback. We seem to have struck a nerve with the Ground Zero Mosque discussion. We talk about that and Chris makes a confession.

Episode One Hundred: "I mean, I've only been out here 25 minutes or so, but so far the reaction has been, I'd say, a 100% negative. Would you agree?"

Well, we made it. Here, after many, many long months is episode one hundred of Are You Serious. That's one hundred episodes of angry ranting, thoughtful conversation and boldly stating opinions. From Republicans to the Pope, no-one and nothing has been safe from the eye of the show.

We are so grateful to everyone for all of your support and encouraging words. Especially when you challenged us to re-think our position on a topic. The show has gone through many iterations and segments over time and we finally settled into a nice weekly groove.

This week, in honor of this momentous milestone, we -- do exactly what we have been doing. Nothing special, nothing gimmicky. Just another show. In this episode, we discuss Everybody Draw Mohammed Day, religion, the Emmy nominations, more details in the breast-milk fatwa, Predators, Cyrus, I Am Love and much more.

and an urge to use 'em all up!"

Episode Ninety Nine! It's hard to believe that these two slackers have put out 99 shows, sometimes two in a week and have not missed a single week!

This week, the boys talk about Toy Story 3 and how Pixar has possibly hit a plateau, Hot Tub Time Machine and how it may just be a good get together with your friends comedy, teaching creation as science, stoning women to death, Sarah Palin, Frank's birthday, and just how much Republicans hate the middle class. They continue with the quick hit news stories and cover a lot of topics.

You still have until right before we record our 101st show to enter our Centennial Title Contest! I think we have a winner already, but that shouldn't deter you from trying! All you need to do is email as many quotes as you can from our back episode titles.

This week, we talk about the first three episodes of True Blood in the usual haphazard way that we do, then we go off on a tangent and start talking about something else entirely. Hot Tub Time Machine is discussed for a bit and there is speculation about why this summer seems to be doing worse than others prior.

A listener poses a question and we run with that for a bit, we talk interesting facts about the universe and science then turn our attention toward the dummies here on Earth. This week, we have a very different show for you. One of the regular hosts couldn't make it to record, and we have our very first guest host! We talk about Glee and the season finale, religion, Star Wars and the possibilities available with a post Return of the Jedi, Clone Wars style series. Sarah Palin possibly giving jobs to boobs... what? It's a possible boob job? Oh! That's different. Just when you think she couldn't get any more fake.

The co-host for this week really tries to derail the show, but try as they might, it didn't work!
